During his recent interview with Sen. Mike Lee, conservative talk host Mark Levin noted how some conservatives say they are not "social conservatives" or hawkish, but they are still fiscal conservative.
Levin worried that these days you can’t find many willing to be fiscal conservatives.
Sen. Mike Lee replied, “What they mean when they say that is these are Republicans who want to be liked. When they start hyphenating their conservatism and when they start minimizing it.”
Some of these people still call themselves conservative, but, you know, conservatism isn’t a state of mind. It’s manifested in one’s actions. It shows that you’re not willing to bow down and pray to the false idol god of big government.
Ultimately, that’s what socialism and all forms of statism and fascism are about. Attributing to government attributes of deity. All-knowing. All-powerful. Omniscient. Omnipotence. The ability to love you and care about you.
Government doesn’t have any of that, Mark, because government is just force. Our founding fathers understood that. We’ve lost that understanding today.
We’ve got to get it back."
