In addition to Twitter, how much did the FBI pressure other social media platforms?

'Thank God' for Matt Taibbi, Elon Musk for showing us Twitter was 'a subsidiary of the FBI'

During the House Oversight Committee’s hearing on Wednesday over Twitter's alleged censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story and expert COVID information, Republican Rep. Nancy Mace had a pointed question for the platform's former Chief Legal Officer.

“Did the U.S. government ever contact you or anyone at Twitter to moderate certain tweets? Yes or no?” Mace asked Vijaya Gadde.

"We have a program," Gadde began.

Mace interjected, "yes or no?" She again asked the question, "Did the U.S. government ever contact you or anyone at Twitter to moderate certain tweets? Yes or no?”

Gadde replied, “We receive legal demands from the U.S. government and governments all around the world."

“Thank God for Matt Taibbi,” Mace said. “Thank God for Elon Musk for showing us Twitter was basically a subsidiary of the FBI censoring real medical voices with real expertise that put real Americans’ lives in danger because they didn’t have that information.”

Independent journalist Matt Taibbi was the first among a number of reporters to present the Twitter Files, which Twitter owner Elon Musk made available to selected press members.

4 in 10 Americans say they're worse off financially under Biden

ABC News reports, “Four in 10 Americans say they've gotten worse off financially since Joe Biden became president, the most in ABC News/Washington Post polls dating back 37 years…

The big hit on Biden is the economy: With inflation moderating but still high, 41 percent say they're not as well off financially as they were when Biden took office, the most in nearly three dozen ABC/Post polls to ask the question since 1986, when Ronald Reagan, who popularized the "better off" phrase, held office. Just 16 percent in this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, say they're better off.

By contrast, nearly two years into Trump's presidency, far fewer – 13 percent – said they'd gotten worse off; more, 25 percent, were in better shape financially.”
