U.S. Representative for Florida's 3rd congressional district.
Over the last few weeks, we've discussed a variety of military aggressions in Washington. Just last week, President Biden ordered airstrikes in Syria. On one hand, he unilaterally weakened sanctions against Iran but used U.S. military force to destroy Iranian-backed militia facilities. Congress has the constitutional authority to declare war, but for too long, we've allowed the executive to use military force across the world. Just last week, the House voted to repeal the 2002 Iraq War Authorization and I'm glad my colleagues agree we have to get back to ensuring Congress has the final say. It's the first thing they taught us at the Naval War College. It should be the first thing we remember before engaging in military action.
