U.S. Representative for Florida's 3rd congressional district.

By leaving Americans stranded, Biden is putting politics above people in Afghanistan

Newsmax reports, "Saying she is 'absolutely, utterly disgusted' at the 'total and utter incompetence of this administration,' Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., told Newsmax she had to watch the Taliban execute a translator that was attempting to help her office get Americans and allies out of Afghanistan.

'They may say that the war is over, that the conflict is over — it isn't until every single American gets home,' Cammack told Monday's 'Spicer & Co.' 'So until that president, that man in the White House who claims to be commander in chief decides to do something different, we will make sure that we are putting people above politics."

No more excuses from Biden for his absolute failure in Afghanistan

We need accountability now. The sheer lack of leadership, utter incompetence, and silence from the Biden administration shows us just how grossly inept this failure of an administration has become.

Not a single House Republican voted for $3.5 trillion budget resolution. Democrats own this monstrosity

The New York Post reports, "Over 100 Republicans in the House are vowing in a new letter that they will not vote to increase the debt ceiling — calling the issue a 'problem created by Democrat spending.”

Citing trillions of dollars of government spending proposed by Democrats, the 103 House Republicans promised not to increase the debt ceiling under any circumstance, according to the letter obtained by Fox News.

“Democrats have embarked on a massive and unprecedented deficit spending spree. Without a single Republican vote, they passed a $1.9 trillion ‘Covid relief’ bill in March even though $1 trillion was still unspent from previous bipartisan Covid relief bills,' the letter said, also citing the recently passed $3.5 trillion budget resolution.

“In order for this spending to occur, our nation’s debt limit will have to be increased significantly,' it continued. 'Because Democrats are responsible for the spending, they need to take responsibility for increasing the debt ceiling.”

I have long supported withdrawal, but every American should be embarrassed by the Biden administration

My column in the Gainesville Sun:

"Since the Afghan War began two decades ago, four presidential administrations have worked to bring our troops back home. For years, I've supported a strong, strategic withdrawal plan to end America's longest war, but what we are witnessing is anything but.

In fact, it's clear that any 'plans' or 'contingencies' never existed. Surely if they had, we wouldn’t be watching American citizens beaten by the Taliban as they attempt to make their way to the airport in Kabul.

In early July, President Joe Biden told the American people that the Taliban presented no credible threat to the United States, our troops, or our allies in the region. Mere weeks after President Biden and top military leaders at the Pentagon told us we were safe, we watched as the Taliban continued its offense across the country, taking more provinces each day, ultimately taking full control within a week…

I'm disappointed in this administration. I'm embarrassed by this administration and I think all Americans should be."

We gave the names of Americans and our allies to the Taliban?

WHAT?!?

Politico: "U.S. officials in Kabul gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies to grant entry into the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport, a choice that's prompted outrage behind the scenes from lawmakers and military officials."

“Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list,” said one defense official, who like others spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive topic. “It’s just appalling and shocking and makes you feel unclean.”

Democrats' $3.5 trillion budget a 'tax-and-spend, liberal-wish-list-free-for-all that'

Fox Business reports, "Members of the Republican Study Committee on Tuesday condemned Democrats' $3.5 trillion budget resolution, saying it will only add to record inflation.

The House voted 220-212 along party lines on Tuesday to advance Biden's $3.5 trillion budget blueprint that progressives want, while locking in assurances for moderates that the Senate-passed $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill will get a vote by Sept. 27.

'While our country grapples with the…disaster unfolding in Afghanistan, the border crisis, surging crime, historic inflation and countless other disasters that this administration and the left have created, [Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sander's] budget only ups the ante,' Republican Florida Rep. Kat Cammack said during a press briefing.

Cammack criticized the budget resolution, which Republicans have dubbed the 'Bernie Budget,' as a 'tax-and-spend, liberal-wish-list-free-for-all that' would lead to $68 trillion in spending 'over the next 10 years.'

"Combined spending from this resolution and all spending from the House Democrats' majority since 2019 holds more than the total taxes paid by all Americans in U.S. history,' the Republican congresswoman said, adding that increasing debt will add 'fuel' to inflation that reached a 13-year high in May and continues to climb."

Spending and spending and spending...

The Associated Press reported in July, "The Congressional Budget Office says that the federal budget deficit will again hit $3 trillion this year, $745 billion more than its estimate five months ago, as it takes into account the cost of President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus rescue plan."

"In an updated forecast Thursday, the CBO said the deficit for the current 2021 budget year, which ends Sept. 30, will be the second-largest in history, coming in shy of last year’s record shortfall of $3.13 trillion," AP reported.

The AP also noted, "Federal debt, meanwhile, will rise to 102.7% of the total economy this year from 100.1% last year, according to the CBO forecast. This year’s number would eclipse last year’s as the highest debt level since the end of World War II."

Is Biden avoiding telling the truth about the disaster in Afghanistan?

While leaving Afghanistan was the right thing to do, how we did it mattered and President Biden seemed intent on doing it in the least responsible way. He seemed to want to withdraw according to his timeline and not his predecessor's, however unwise that could turn out.

Former President Donald Trump set a May 1 deadline that Biden ignored. Trump warned Biden that deviating from the deal he negotiated could be disastrous.

We know how that turned out.

Where is Kamala Harris?

The New York Post reports, "Americans have further soured on Vice President Kamala Harris as she continues her radio silence on the chaotic and tragic withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, a new poll indicates.

"According to a Rasmussen Reports survey released Thursday, 55 percent of likely voters say the former senator from California is either 'not qualified' or 'not at all qualified' to assume the duties of the presidency," the Post notes.

Thew news outlet adds, "Harris has not held a public event since last week, when she cut short a meeting with CEOs to discuss the Biden administration’s childcare proposals in order to receive an intelligence briefing about Afghanistan."

The Pentagon has no idea how many weapons have fallen into the hands of the Taliban

This is insane! The Hill reports, "Billions of dollars of U.S. weapons are now in the hands of the Taliban following the quick collapse of Afghan security forces that were trained to use the military equipment.

Among the items seized by the Taliban are Black Hawk helicopters and A-29 Super Tucano attack aircraft.

Photos have also circulated of Taliban fighters clutching U.S.-made M4 carbines and M16 rifles instead of their iconic AK-47s. And the militants have been spotted with U.S. Humvees and mine-resistant ambush protected vehicles."

It gets worse: "Between 2003 and 2016, the United States transferred 75,898 vehicles, 599,690 weapons, 162,643 pieces of communications equipment, 208 aircraft, and 16,191 pieces of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment to Afghan forces, according to a 2017 Government Accountability Office report.

From 2017 to 2019, the United States also gave Afghan forces 7,035 machine guns, 4,702 Humvees, 20,040 hand grenades, 2,520 bombs and 1,394 grenade launchers, among other equipment, according to a report last year from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR)."
