From The Federalist’s Tristan Justice, “Fox News’ Tucker Carlson railed against former House staffer Evan McMullin Friday night as a ‘liberal Democrat’ masquerading in a red state Senate race as an independent.

‘Utah is a conservative highly Republican state,’ Carlson said in his opening prime-time monologue. ‘Evan McMullin has the same politics and worldview as Pete Buttigieg. He is running as a liberal Democrat. But he’s not running as a liberal Democrat, and that’s the key to success this year.’

McMullin is running as a self-professed independent, despite running with the complete endorsement of the Democratic Party while his campaign doles out $1.6 million to Democratic consultants in his crusade against GOP incumbent Sen. Mike Lee, one of the most constitutionally conservative senators in office. McMullin is also actively fundraising with the Democrats’ money machine ActBlue.

‘Evan McMullin is roughly as independent as Kamala Harris is,’ Carlson said. ‘McMullin is fully on board with every anti-family scheme the Democratic Party has dreamed up over the last decade. As a supposedly faithful Mormon, he can’t even acknowledge that Roe v. Wade was a bad decision.”

Deseret News reported Thursday: “Engaged in a fierce battle in the U.S. Senate race in Utah, a new poll shows Republican Sen. Mike Lee and independent challenger Evan McMullin neck and neck with a little over six weeks to Election Day.”

“The latest Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics survey found 36% of Utahns would vote for Lee and 34% for McMullin if the election were held today,” the report continued. “Another 16% don’t know who they would vote for, while 13% would mark the ballot, which includes two third-party candidates, for someone else.”

My friend and colleague Sen. Lee is one of the greatest champions of the Constitution and liberty in Congress, unafraid to stand up to the Democrats or even his own party in the name of honoring his oath to his state and country.

Utah could not ask for a better senator.

His opponent Evan McMullin is backed by the Democratic Party and represents the old Republican neoconservative establishment that was always eager to get us involved in the next war. They still are.

America does not need another Iraq or Afghanistan war.

Nevertheless, Democrats and war-eager Republicans across the country have a lot at stake in defeating Lee.
