The Hill reports, “Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has a 4-point lead over Democratic challenger Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, according to a new Emerson College poll released on Tuesday.”
“Forty-eight percent of very likely voters said they support the sitting senator, while 44 percent said they will vote for Barnes, according to the poll,” the report noted.

It continued, “After winning the Democratic primary last month, Barnes briefly polled ahead of Johnson. However, Johnson has since closed the gap, and recent polling — including a Spectrum News-Siena College poll also released on Tuesday — showed the candidates within 1 percentage point of each other.”

Since when has anyone named Cheney felt obligated to uphold the Constitution? Set aside for a moment whether or not you believe Trump is a threat to constitutional order or anything else.

Let’s remember where Cheney has been a threat to the rule of law and our constitutional republic…

A good example was when Cheney was promoting and defending CIA operative Gina Haspel in 2018, Trump’s pick to head that agency. Cheney said Haspel “spent her career defending the American people” and her critics were simply “defending terrorists.”

Haspel had a documented role in waterboarding abroad and other “enhanced interrogation tactics,” including covering up America’s role in carrying out these atrocities.

Constitutional liberties and protections, and the United States’ moral complicity in engaging in this illegal behavior, mattered little to Cheney at the time.

The emergency stay, issued by the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals, puts a hold on the administration’s requirement that those workers be vaccinated by Jan. 4 or face other measures, such as weekly tests and mask requirements.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry had argued the Biden administration ‘could not impose medical procedures on the American people without the checks and balances afforded by the Constitution.’

Maybe the White House should heed the words of a famous American president.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reported Sunday, “The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled Saturday the Franklin Circuit Court was wrong to issue an injunction in March blocking several bills limiting the scope of Gov. Andy Beshear’s power to issue emergency orders, remanding it back to the court to be dissolved.”

The news outlet noted, “The unanimous ruling is mostly a victory for the Republican-dominated Kentucky General Assembly and Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who argued the legislation passed earlier this year to limit the governor’s power was constitutional and should not have been blocked.
