Forbes reports, “Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) plans to introduce new legislation in Congress — the Tax Free Education Act — next week. This new bill would: make education expenses 100% deductible; enable students to deduct the cost of their education from their income tax; include student loans as ‘education expenses’; apply to all colleges and technical schools; and apply to the cost of K-12 education.

‘Making college tax deductible, I think, would help a lot of families,’ Paul told WDRB in Kentucky. ‘A lot of families are struggling. College tuition has doubled over the last decade. Loan payments are going up. I meet people in their 30s still trying to pay back their loans.”

Brad Polumbo writes, “Axios/TheGenerationLab just surveyed college students about their comfort level with various forms of social activity. The poll finds that students, many of whom are vaccinated, are essentially scared of their own shadow — in a way utterly untethered from actual risk levels and scientific reality.”

“It also reports that 68% of students think it is unsafe to speak closely with someone without masks when their vaccination status is unknown,” Polumbo notes. “Similarly, 62% believe it is unsafe to attend an indoor party, and 66% think dancing with others is dangerous under the same conditions. Meanwhile, more than 80% of students view activities such as sharing drinks and kissing strangers as dangerous in terms of COVID-19 exposure.”

He adds, “Likely as a result of this widespread fear, 61% of students think their schools should impose restrictions on attending parties and large social gatherings.”

Polumbo then says, “There’s just one problem: There’s almost no basis for any of these fears, and college students are living scared of their own shadows for no reason.”
